Administrative Cover Letter - What Can it Do For You?

1. Allow you to write directly towards a targeted audience. Your potential employer for example.

2. An administrative cover letter allows you to introduce yourself, and for your employer to get to know you before they read your resume.

3. A letter of any type allows you to come across as a more professional individual and will set you apart from your peers.

Today"s employers generally have to wade through piles and piles of resumes. I would know... its what I used to do for a living before I started teaching people how to write cover letters and resumes. But just like you I didn"t teach myself.

I learned the hard way! Trial and error! So, How did I get to where I am today?

Well after working freelance for several different firms I realized I had a very valuable skill. I stared at Administrative Cover Letters all day long. I have seen really good ones and I have also seen very poor ones.

I started to know the general requirements for a good resume but I was still missing something. I began to search the internet for any information on what makes an administrative letter truly great! I stumbled across an amazing book.

After reading it I decided to test it out. I drafted a cover letter according to the information in the book. Then I took an old resume, added a few new pieces of information to it and applied for several jobs. I didn"t just apply to any job though. I went for jobs that were WELL out of my range! One job in particular required a minimum of a bachelors degree.

I barely made it through high school. I had no college degree but decided to apply anyways. Honestly What do you have to lose? It wasn"t 5 days later and I got a call for an interview! I couldn"t believe it. So what did I do? Well I went to the interview. And after 1 phone interview and 2 live interviews I was offered the job. Without a degree: )
