Still More Behaviors for a Successful Job Search

I have conducted hundreds of employment interviews for positions ranging from manufacturing shop floor to the executive level. After awhile you begin to notice that successful candidates did certain things that contributed to their positive outcome. Likewise, unsuccessful candidates had certain other actions in common which led to their not being chosen or did not help them.

Power Interview Tips

This guide is really something I have been meaning to do for a long time after being in the Online Advertising industry for the last 6 years, setting up ventures, investing and taking them IPO on exchanges such as the London Stock Exchange. My experience covers display advertising specifically Ad Networks where there was much work involving agencies and also web development creatives.

For the past 3 years, I have been direct response marketing specifically search engine marketing (Google And Yahoo Pay Per Click) and search engine optimization (SEO) where I have been selling and executing campaigns for companies to generate leads and revenues. In my career in new media, I have hired over 50 people and worked with numerous partners and clients. Again, what I have to say are completely my own views but I believe they are not different from any other industry veteran out there.

My stance is very simple - I am here to tell you how you can make a living and a nail the job you want in this industry if you learn what we"re about to teach you.

Our approach is very simple:

-We teach and guide you on the core skills you need to learn

-Prepare yourself for the Interviews and tips on provide tips on building track record and knowledge in a very short time

-Guide you on the type of careers and firms you can apply and maximize your earning potential

If you"re reading this, I can only assume you"re very interested in getting your foot in the door or would like to progress further within the industry. In any case, there are plenty of opportunities around; don"t worry about the crap you hear about lay-offs in the digital media industry - these are effects of historical overhiring and if you have the "right" skillsets" - there is no issue in you getting another gig easily. I"ll go to the meats and potatoes as to what these skill sets are in the next series of videos and emails.

Before I go on, let me just tell you what the challenges are for most people seeking jobs within the industry:

1. Focusing on the right areas within the industry - Are you a brand copywriter or direct response copywriter? Are you a sales guy selling creative projects, can you really sell display ads or search solutions? You need to pick the right areas to chart your own career progression. My first advices is start off where you already have an established core competence and make the effort to learn the basics. We"ll come to this again later.

2. Having the right skillsets - Because the industry is such a new one, everyone seems to think they are a search expert or a social media expert just because they have a Facebook or a google adwords account. To be honest, you"re only as good as how much money or revenues you can generate for your clients (or yourself) especially in direct response marketing. From a branding standpoint - put yourself to the test and measure your performance.

3. Knowing the difference between online and traditional media - If you don"t already know, the media and marketing is all about analytics and tracking. If you have been studying marketing and doing statistical analysis you"ll know what I mean - the days of getting poor sample sizes and doing any form of marketing analysis have now been revolutionized with online media with the immense number of tools and great set of data to focus on. Hint - so if you get yourself clued up and clued in on analytics - you"ve already beaten half the competition who know very little about online media analytics at this point in time if you ask me.

4. Know what you can do with these skills - Do you want to work for someone and get a job? If so which companies should you be applying to? And if you cant" get a job? Don"t worry, and this is really why I"ve been involved in new media - you can actually really make a very good living for yourself just using these skills yourself if you"re good at it. Again, that"s another area altogether. So if you pick up these skill sets quickly and learn them with depth - you"ll rocket ahead in your career - I am very sure of it.
